FAIR will be requesting a meeting with HET and the PSNI regarding new information on South Armagh’s infamous torture chambers. We have acquired new information on buildings that were used as safe locations in which the IRA brutally mutilated and then executed victims. In these dungeons of death part time security forces, civilians and indeed other IRA members where brutally and barbarically butchered. One case runs particularly deep with the community in South Armagh, that of a young man who was tortured for 4 days before being executed using over 30 rounds of ammunition. We have new information on locations and believe that over 45 people were brutalized and executed in these buildings and we are confidant that modern forensics could bring some of those responsible for such heinous crimes to trail. In the past we forwarded details and photos of these locations to the security forces but nothing was done, the information was totally ignored. We were told that the passage of time would have eroded any evidence which may have existed but it is now blatantly obvious that this is not the case and that evidence may well exist at these locations. The massive investigation in to the Jersey children's home shows how far modern forensics has come so we are now calling on the PSNI and the Garda to investigate fully these locations. The currant Jersey investigation dates back over 40 years which is entirely consistent with the time scale of these brutal executions in South Armagh so unless they have a reason not to the PSNI and Garda must begin a full investigation straight away. Our details on the locations and photos have been confirmed to us by security force personal and two individuals who were interrogated but released the IRAs “Nutting Squad”, so we are now demanding that law enforcement on both sides of the border take action. Not one of these locations have been exposed to the public or investigated even though three IRA men who worked for British Intelligence identified them. Victims need closure but for that to happen they need justice and truth. That truth may be uncomfortable for those attempting to magic way the crimes of Sinn Fein IRA but for the victims and indeed future generations we must seek it out.
